BJP President Amit Shah met Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray in Mumbai after meeting industrialist Ratan Tata and actress Madhuri Dixit earlier in the day. Amit Shah was also scheduled to meet singer Lata Mangeshkar under the Sampark for Samarthan initiative of the BJP to garner support and votes before the 2019 General Elections by meeting prominent personalities and spreading the word of mouth about the work done by NDA government in last four years since coming into power. According to media reports, the BJP President also held a meeting with the important BJP leaders in Maharashtra after meeting Uddhav Thackeray at his residence in Matoshree, Bandra in Mumbai.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was also part of the meeting both during the meet with Uddhav and then the party meet. Pankaja Munde and other important leaders were present in the meeting taken by Amit Shah after he met Uddhav Thackeray.

Earlier in the day, Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamna criticised the BJP's Sampark for Samarthan initiative and ridiculed the BJP by saying that it would contest the 2019 elections independently.

The scathing editorial also took a dig at the BJP's recent losses in the Lok Sabha and assembly bypolls in Uttar Pradesh. The editorial names Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP party president Amit Shah saying that the saffron party is on a global outreach programme named Sampark for Samarthan and that PM Narendra Modi was its global face whereas Amit Shah has been given the domestic duty for the same.
