Gandhinagar, May 23: The ruling BJP in Gujarat appeared way ahead of its rival, the saffron party is leading all 26 parliamentary seats in the state. Among the key trends, BJP's Chhota Udaipur tribal constituency candidate Gitaben Vajesingbhai Rathva was leading with over 25,000 votes. In Rajkot, the ruling party's Kundaria Mohanbhai Kalyanjibhai was leading with over 2,35,000 votes. After the hectic election campaigning and voting, the counting of votes began at 8 am on Thursday. The ruling party was confident of a win, while the AICC hoped for better performance. Gujarat, the home turf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah gave their party all 26 Lok Sabha seats in 2014 general elections when 64.7 per cent voters turnout was recorded. In 2019 elections, 64.11 per cent voters exercised their franchise.
"The initial trends from everywhere are sending out signals of a sure shot victory of the BJP, as we always knew would happen. By evening, this will be visible," said BJP Spokesperson Bharat Pandya. In last general elections, all 26 seats were won by BJP and is hoping to repeat the feat, while the INC is expecting to get at least six seats.
