New Delhi, October 22: Wishes poured in for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah on his 54th birthday today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers and BJP leaders wished the party Chief on the special occasion. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to micro-blogging site Twitter and Shah on his 54th birthday and lauded his leadership and contribution to the party. "Greetings to BJP 4 India President Shri Amit Shah on his birthday. Under Amit Bhai’s leadership, the Party has expanded significantly across India. His rigour and hard work are great assets for the Party. I wish him a long and healthy life", Modi tweeted.

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley prayed for the BJP chief's long life and a successful year ahead. "Warm birthday greetings to Shri Amit Shah ji, my party colleague and esteemed President of the Bharatiya Janata Party. May he be blessed with good health, long life and a successful year ahead", Jaitley said.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad wished the BJP Chief and said that under his leadership, BJP has become the world's largest political party.  "Wishing Bharatiya Janata Party President Shri @AmitShah Ji a very Happy Birthday. Under his dynamic leadership, BJP has become the world's largest political party with growing popularity among people of India. I wish him a long and healthy life", Prasad said. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh extended his wishes by saying BJP has reached new heights under the leadership of Shah. "Warm wishes to BJP National President Shri Amit Shah on his birthday. Amitji is known for his hard work and amazing organising skills. Under his leadership, the party has risen to new heights. The Human Resource Development Minister of India, Prakash Javadekar said, "Birthday wishes to Amit Shah ji, who has provided an able and dynamic leadership to BJP. He has transformed the way grassroots politics is conducted in India."

Shah was born in Mumbai on 22 October 1964. His father Anil Chandra Shah, a businessman from Mansa, owned a successful PVC pipe business.  Shah was the BJP's in-charge for India's largest and politically most crucial state, Uttar Pradesh, during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Under his leadership, the BJP achieved success in Legislative Assembly elections in Maharashtra, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand and Assam in 2016, but lost the elections in Delhi and Bihar in 2015. Reports inform that in 2017, Shah led the party towards a landslide victory in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat and marked the party's strong debut in Manipur, but the Akali-BJP alliance lost power in Punjab.
