The Amgaon assembly seat in Maharashtra, along with other 287 seats, will go to polls on October 21. In Amgaon Vidhan Sabha constituency, the main fight will be between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress.

Mumbai, September 27: The Amgaon assembly seat in Maharashtra, along with other 287 seats, will go to polls on October 21. In Amgaon Vidhan Sabha constituency, the main fight will be between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress. The BJP won the seat for three consecutive terms from 1995 to 2004. In 2009 Maharashtra assembly elections, Congress's Ramratanbapu Bharatbhapu Raut was elected. However, in 2014, the BJP got back the seat. This time, Congress's Korote Sahasram Maroti defeated BJP's sitting MLA Puram Sanjay Hanwantrao. Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2019: Congress-NCP to Contest on 125 Seats Each.

According to the Election Commission’s schedule for Maharashtra assembly elections, the last date for filing nomination papers is October 4. The nomination papers will be scrutinised on October 5. The last date for withdrawing nomination is October 7. While polling will be held on October 21, the counting of votes will take place on October 24. Nearly 9 crore voters are expected to exercise their franchise. In 2014 assembly elections in Maharashtra, the BJP wrested power from the Congress-NCP combine winning 122 seats. The Shiv Sena bagged 63 seats, whereas the Congress won 42. The NCP managed to win 41 seats. Bahujan Vikash Aghadi and the PWP won three seats each. AIMIM got two seats. Bharipa Bahujan Mahasangh, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, Rashtriya Samaj Paksha and Samajwadi Party won one seat each. Seven Independents were also elected.
