Chandigarh, June 6: Facing flaks over Lok Sabha debacle, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government in Punjab on Thursday reshuffled the state cabinet and divested Navjot Singh Sidhu's portfolio. Sidhu has been allocated to the Ministry of Power and New and Renewable Energy.
According to the reports, the latest reshuffle in the state Cabinet took place amid open differences between the two top Congress leaders in the state came to the light. As per reports, Sidhu's Tourism and Cultural Affairs portfolio was also taken away, along with his Local Government portfolio. The portfolio took place after the first Cabinet meeting, post-Lok Sabha Elections. Woman Hurls Chappal at Navjot Singh Sidhu at Public Meeting in Rohtak, Watch Video
Earlier, Amarinder Singh had accused Sidhu of damaging Congress' prospects with his 'irresponsible actions' before and during the Lok Sabha Elections 2019. Due to this, differences erupted between the two tall leaders and Sidhu skipped the first Cabinet meeting asserting that he can't be taken for granted.
Known for making controversial comments, Sidhu had been served several notices by the Election Commission during the Lok Sabha Elections. Even he was barred for few days form participating in the poll campaign. Now with the diminished portfolio and the growing differences between the two politicians, it would be interesting to see what is in the platter for Punjab politics next.
