Alwar Lynching: Telangana BJP MLA Raja Singh Says Such Killings Can't Be Stopped Till 'Gau Mata Isn't Declared Rashtra Mata'
Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Raja Singh has courted controversy yet again by coming out in defence of cow vigilantism.
Hyderabad, July 23: Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Raja Singh has courted controversy yet again by coming out in defence of cow vigilantism. Defending the lynching of Rakbar Khan in Alwar, Singh said that "through some media reports" he has gotten to know that Khan had certain cases of cattle theft against him. He also said that such incidents will continue to happen till "gau mata is not declared rashtra mata".
As quoted by CNN-News18, Singh said that cattle killing should be stopped all over the world. He also said that there need to be strict norms in India to check the killings of cattle.
In June too, Singh had become the centre of controversy after saying that he would not attend iftar parties hosted by Muslims nor would he host one. He had also said that holding iftar parties amounted to “begging for votes”.
"These days many Telangana legislators are busy hosting Iftar parties, wearing skull caps and taking selfies. They think if they have to do vote bank politics, they will have to think of 'sabka saath, sabha vikas'. This is their thinking. Those who sit with them are 'vote ke bhikhari' (beggars for vote). My thinking is different," Raja Singh had said.
His statements led to a case having been registered against him at Falaknuma Police Station for hurting religious sentiments.
