Mumbai, October 16: Akot Vidhan Sabha constituency is one of the 288 constituencies of Maharashtra state that will have their election on October 21. Prakash Gunwantrao Bharsakale of BJP party won the 2019 General Assembly election with 47,296 seats. The counting of votes and election result were declared on October 24.
Bharsakle Prakash Gunvantrao of BJP won the 2014 General Assembly Election with 70086 votes ahead of Congress candidate Gangane Mahesh Sudhakarrao. According to the 2011 Indian census, Akot had a population of 92,637. Males constituted 52 percent of the population and females 48 percent. Akot has an average literacy rate of 70.8 percent, which is higher than the national average of 59.5 percent. A total of 3,239 candidates are in the fray for the October 21 assembly elections in Maharashtra for the 288 seats up for grabs. The Konkan Divisional Commissioner Shivajirao Daund has directed officials concerned to ensure all facilities for disabled persons and senior citizens during voting and to shun the use of plastic at the polling booths.
In the 2014 Maharashtra assembly elections, the BJP emerged as the single largest party winning 122 seats. A total of 95,473 polling stations will be set up for over 8.95 crore voters in Maharashtra. The term of the Devendra Fadnavis-led current Maharashtra Assembly will end on 9 November.
