Mumbai, October 3: The Akkalkuwa ST constituency in Maharashtra is one of the 288 seats of Maharashtra assembly. Adv. K. C. Padavi of the Congress party won from the constituency. The Akkalkuwa ST had their polls on October 21, along with the other seats in the Maharashtra Assembly. The counting of votes and the final results were declared on October 24.

The Akkalkuwa ST constituency is located in the Nandurbar district and is reserved for the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes. It is part of the Nandurbar Lok Sabha constituency. The sitting MLA from the constituency is Advocate Kagda Chandya Padvi who won 2014 Maharashtra Assembly Elections with 64410 votes in his favour. Candidates can file their nominations latest by October 4. The scrutiny of these nomination papers will be done on October 5 and the last date to withdraw a candidature from the election is October 7. The current term of Devendra Fadnavis-led current Maharashtra government will end on 9 November.

In the 2014 Maharashtra assembly elections, the BJP emerged as the single largest party winning 122 seats. A total of 95,473 polling stations that have been set up for over 8.95 crore voters in Maharashtra. The Konkan Divisional Commissioner Shivajirao Daund has directed officials concerned to ensure all facilities for disabled persons and senior citizens during voting and to shun the use of plastic at the polling booths.
