One nation, one election' which is Prime Minister Narendra Modi's top agenda got backing from Yogi Adityanath recently. The latest politician to support the proposal is Akhilesh Yadav, SP Chief. According to an ANI report, Yadav, on Yogi Government backing PM Modi's 'one nation one election' proposal said, "We are ready for one nation one election. 2019 se tayiaari kariye hum bhi aapke saath hain is mudde par."

Reportedly, the Law Commission of India is preparing a working draft which would recommend the manner in which the government's initiative of 'one nation, one election' could be rolled out. The panel, reports said, is likely to recommend simultaneous assembly and Lok Sabha polls in 19 states in 2019.

According to an IANS report, a committee set up by the Uttar Pradesh government on 'One Nation, One Election', mooted by the Law Commission, submitted its report to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday. The report suggests that by tweaking the dates of the state assembly polls in various states, this goal can be achieved in 2024.  UP  became the first state which had formally agreed at the proposal initially mooted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of having all the elections at one time to save public money and in public welfare.
