Mumbai, May 23: Ahmednagar Lok Sabah seat in Maharashtra saw a direct electoral contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Polling for Lok Sabha election in Ahmednagar parliamentary constituency was held on April 23 in the third phase of general elections. BJP's Sujay Vikhe Patil won from Ahmednagar.

Gandhi Dilipkumar Mansukhlal of the BJP is the sitting Member of Parliament (MP) from Ahmednagar. In Ahmednagar, the BJP fielded Sujay Vikhe Patil, son of senior Congressman Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil. Sujay Vikhe Patil defected to the BJP after the NCP allegedly refused to leave the Ahmednagar Lok Sabha seat for its ally, the Congress. The NCP is contesting 20 seats, whereas Congress 24. On the other hand, the BJP and its ally Shiv Sena are contesting 25 and 23 seats respectively of the total 48 Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the alliance of the BJP, Shiv Sena and Swabhiman Paksha together registered a victory on 42 seats in Maharashtra. The Congress bagged twos eats, while the NCP four.
