New Delhi, April 19: Amid the ongoing row over the contentious statements made by Bharatiya Janata Party's Bhopal Lok Sabha candidate Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur against late ATS officer Hemant Karkare, another BJP leader fueled the controversy by posting a controversial remark against the martyr on social media.

A post from BJP MP Rajendra Agrawal's Twitter handle said Karkare "went unprepared" to face the terrorists who had struck Mumbai on November 26, 2008. Notably, Karkare was martyred in the 26/11 attack carried out by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists sent from Pakistan. Sadhvi Pragya Thakur Apologises, Calls 26/11 Mumbai Attacks Hero Hemant Karkare a ‘Martyr’

The tweet further added that the lack of preparedness allowed terrorists to snatch the police vehicle from Karkare after killing him.

Agrawal later alleged that his Twitter handle was "misused", and the posts related to Hemant Karkare were not uploaded by him on social media.

Before his clarificatory note, all the controversial tweets were deleted from his handle.

Meanwhile, Sadhvi Pragya also apologised for her remarks on Karkare, saying that she is taking back her statements against the 26/11 martyr.

"I felt that the enemies of the country were being benefited from it, therefore I take back my statement and apologize for it, it was my personal pain," she said.

Sadhvi, while addressing the press in Bhopal on Thursday, had said that Karkare was killed within two months after she "cursed him".

"Hemant Karkare falsely implicated me (in Malegaon blasts) and treated me very badly. I told him your entire dynasty will be erased. He died of his karma," she had said.

Sadhvi, a co-accused in the 2008 Malegaon blasts case, has been fielded by the BJP to take on Congress veteran Digvijaya Singh from the Bhopal constituency. The seat will go to polls on May 12, in the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections 2019.
