Thiruvananthapuram, July 26: A day after BJP leader Gopalakrishnan, told filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan to go to the moon if he can't tolerate 'Jai Sri Ram' slogans, the noted filmmaker takes a dig at the advice. According to an ANI tweet, Gopalakrishnan has been quoted saying, "It is a good suggestion by this BJP friend that I should go to the moon, if he can book a room for me on the moon and buy me a ticket then it will be a nice stay." 49 eminent citizens, including Adoor, raised their voice against violence in the name of religion. Adoor had earlier clarified that heir letter voicing concern was neither against the government, nor against those chanting 'Jai Sri Ram', but against incidents of lynching using the "chant as a war cry".

The BJP leader in his Facebook post also accused the filmmaker of remaining silent on other issues and speaking up selectively. Following the BJP leader's controversial comment, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the Malayalam film fraternity came out in support of Adoor Gopalakrishnan and slammed the BJP leader's comments.
