Adolf Hitler, Mussolini Were 'Products of Democracy', Says BJP's Ram Madhav

BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav on Thursday sparked a row by stating that Adolf Hitler and Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini were products of democracy. He also opined that Indian democracy remains vibrant, and it has its own checks and balances.

New Delhi, January 16: Bharatiya Janata Party national general secretary Ram Madhav on Thursday sparked a row by stating that Adolf Hitler and Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini were products of democracy. He also opined that Indian democracy remains vibrant, and it has its own checks and balances.

Expressing his opinion at an event in the national capital, Madhav said, as quoted by news agency ANI, "Where is democracy in India actually progressing? The very fact that this question is being raised proves that Indian democracy remains vibrant, it has its own checks & balances."

Adding more, he even claimed that Hitler and Mussolini were products of democracy. Madhav said, "Hitler & Mussolini were products of democracy. From then to today, there are liberal democracies in the world. Democracies mature over time." Earlier on Saturday, Madhav stated that the Union government would soon release 20-25 leaders from Jammu and Kashmir in phases, who were kept in detention for several months now. The BJP leader said that since J&K is like any other part of the country now after Article 370 abrogation, normalcy would soon return to the Valley.
