Lucknow, April 3: The Mahagathbandhan sans Congress is headed towards winning the maximum parliamentary seats in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2019, predicts the latest survey conducted ABP News-Nielsen. The coalition of Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, Rashtriya Lok Dal (SP-BSP-RLD) is likely to wrest 42 of the 80 constituencies in UP, the opinion poll said.

The BJP-led NDA, which had won 74 seats in the 2014 general elections, will be restricted to 36 constituencies, the poll said. The ruling party, however, seems unimpressed with the survey outcome, calling it an "inaccurate" reflection of the ground reality. SP-BSP Alliance to Win 47 Seats, Says C Voter Survey.

"We disagree with this survey. The SP-BSP combine is yet to name their candidates from many of the constituencies and yet they are predicted to be ahead," BJP national spokesperson Nalin Kohli said.

Among the high-profile seats which the BJP is predicted to be defeated in includes Ghazipur and Chandauli, represented by Union Minister Manoj Sinha and UP BJP chief Mahendra Nath Pandey, respectively.

For the Congress, the Priyanka Gandhi factor is unlikely to play a role as the party is predicted to be restricted to two parliamentary constituencies -- Amethi and Rae Bareli.

The psephologists had toured the constituency of Amethi to determine whether Union Minister Smriti Irani, who has been leading a high-octane campaign against Rahul Gandhi, will be able to defeat the Congress chief. However, the survey concludes that the gandhi bastion would remain uneroded.

Out of the 42 seats predicted to be won by the Mahagathbandhan, 20 are expected to be wrested by the Samajwadi Party, 21 by BSP and 1 constituency by RLD.
