New Delhi, December 7: The ABP news -CSDS exit poll survey has predicted a clear majority for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said that the BJP will win 52 seats in the 90 Chhattisgarh seat assembly. The Congress is predicted to win 35 seats in Chhattisgarh and others are expected to fetch the remaining three seats. On Friday, the voting for the 2018 assembly elections came to an end as the states of Telangana and Rajasthan voted to select a new assembly in their respective states. The states of Chhattisgarh, Mizoram and Madhya Pradesh went to polls earlier for the assembly elections 2018.
The numbers can see an upward trend as the Election Commission allows those standing in the queue to cast their vote even after the stipulated time limit of 5.30 pm.
The elections in Chhattisgarh this time is a three way contest. The incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is challenged by the Congress, who believe that they can win the state. However, things took a new turn with BSP chief Mayawati joining forces with Ajit Jogi's Janta Congress Chhattisgarh and CPI for the 90 seats assembly in Chhattisgarh.
In 2013, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 49 seats out of the total 90 seats in the assembly elections. The Indian National Congress (INC) was the second largest party with 39 seats. One Independent and one Bahujan Samaj Party candidate had also won. BJP retained majority in state legislative assembly for consequently third time and Raman Singh sworn in as a Chief Minister for the third time.
