New Delhi, December 7: The voting for assembly elections for five states – Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan and Telangana - concluded on December 7. Below, the live streaming of post-election predictions broadcasted by ABP News - Lokniti - CSDS has been embedded. The exit poll results may differ from the actual outcome, but are considered to be reflective of the voting pattern.
Polls in the Naxalite affected Chhattisgarh were held in two phases. The voting for the first phase was conducted on November 12 for 18 constituencies, whereas the polls for the second phase on the remaining 72 seats were held on November 20. The voting in all the remaining four states took place in a single phase. In Mizoram and MP voting was held on November 8, whereas in Rajasthan and Telangana, polls were conducted on December 7. Out of these five states, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is in power in three states, while the Congress is ruling Mizoram. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) ruled the state of Telangana for four and half years, before the assembly was dissolved for early elections. According to ABP News-Lokniti opinion poll, the BJP is set to defy anti-incumbency in Chhattisgarh and MP, whereas, the Congress is likely to have a slight edge in Rajasthan.
In Chhattisgarh, Raman Singh will be eyeing a fourth term as Chief Minister of the state. In MP also, the BJP is ruling the state since 2003 and Shivraj Singh Chouhan is serving as the CM of the state since 2005. The counting of votes for all the five states will take place on December 11. The Election Commission will declare the results on the same day.
