"A political policy has been followed in Telangana since past one yr-direct purchase. It's an unfortunate context but if there's such commercialization, it's the negative aspect of it. All that happened in Telangana was possible due to money power. We condemn it but it is the reality of the new pattern brought in by the ruling party & the CM there," Singhvi said. Reacting to the same, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief Uttam Kumar Reddy said, "We're going to Telangana High Court and if we don't get sufficient remedy, we'll go to Supreme Court. We'll also be filing cases in the Lokpal with evidence of MLAs benefiting out of changing parties. We are going on 36 hours fast on June 8."
Earlier, 12 of 18 Congress MLAs gave Telangana Assembly Speaker P Srinivas Reddy representation to merge with TRS. This comes after Congress Party's bad performance in 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, which saw it winning just 53 Lok Sabha seats. In Telangana, the grand old party won three of 17 seats, while TRS won nine.
