AAP Leader Ashish Khetan 'Manhandled' by Mob Inside Delhi Secretariat
Delhi Police acted as a mute spectator during the carnage, Ashish Khetan alleged.
New Delhi, Feb 20: Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Ashish Khetan, along with party MLA Imran Hussein, was allegedly manhandled inside the Delhi Secretariat on Tuesday. As per the video clips emerging of the incident, a mob chanting 'maaro, maaro' slogans charged inside the secretariat building.
Khetan, who heads the Arvind Kejriwal-led government's Delhi Development Dialogue -- an interactive initiative to fulfill the promises made by the party before the assembly polls -- said the attack against him was conspired by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
"It was a riot like situation. A crowd had gathered there which became violent and even raised slogans. Everything is on CCTV. Things will be clear from it," Khetan said. He further accused the "Centre-controlled" Delhi Police of acting as mute inspectors while the mob charged against him.
The incident came hours after Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash said he was physically assaulted by AAP MLAs at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence last night.
The charge, however, was refuted by the CMO. The ruling AAP issued a statement refuting the allegation, levelling a counter-accusation against Prakash.
"There was a meeting of MLAs at the CM's residence. The CS refused to answer questions, saying that he was not answerable to MLAs and the CM, and that he was answerable only to the LG. He (Prakash) even used bad language against some of the MLAs and left without answering any questions," said the press release issued by Kejriwal's party.
The IAS officers' association in Delhi demanded LG Anil Baijal to order an FIR into the incident.
