AAP Celebrates 'Victory' After Supreme Court Verdict on Delhi Power Tussle; Administrative Reshuffle Likely Soon
According to reports coming in, major transfers are expected in Delhi after the Supreme Court's decision. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also tweeted saying that he has called a meeting of the Delhi cabinet at 4 pm.
New Delhi, July 4: Celebrations began in the Aam Aadmi Party's offices across Delhi as soon as the Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday that the Lieutenant Governor (L-G) cannot act independently and he is bound by aid and advice of the council of ministers. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted and expressed their joy at the Supreme Court's decision hailing it as a victory for the "people of Delhi and democracy."
Raghav Chadha, National Spokesperson, National Executive Member- Aam Aadmi Party said that "The Supreme Court has made it very clear that except three areas namely- police, law & order and land... all the other decision and subject to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's decision and it is a victory for the people of Delhi."

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also called it a "historic" decision and said that "we will take in detail once we have the copy of the full order...but the SC has made it very clear that there are only three reserve subjects in Delhi namely- Police, Public Order and Land." Earlier in the day, the bench comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra and justices A K Sikri, A M Khanwilkar, D Y Chandrachud and Ashok Bhushan observed that "Lt. Governor is bound by aid and advice of Council of Ministers, subject to the proviso to Article 239 AA to refer matter to President. He cannot act independently and has to act as per aid and advice of Council of Ministers."
