Mumbai, November 30: In a heart-warming gesture, Aditya Thackeray used his parents’ name as his middle name during the trust vote held in the Maharashtra assembly. The Shiv Sena leader mentioned his name as “Aditya Rashmi Uddhav Thackeray” during the headcount on trust vote in 288-member assembly. His father Uddhav was sworn-in as the Maharashtra CM on November 28. Meanwhile, many credited Rashmi for Aaditya’s entry into the politics. According to reports, Rashmi has several business ventures to her name.
Earlier in the day, Uddhav won the floor test in the Maharashtra assembly. A total of 169 MLAs extended support to the Maha Vikas Agadi – the alliance of Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Shiv Sena. Vikas Bahujan Aghadi and eight independents also supported the alliance-led by the Shiv Sena chief.
Protem Speaker Dilip Patil chaired the proceedings of the House. The two All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MLAs, the one CPI(M) MLA and the one Maharashtra Navnirman Sena MLA stood neutral in the proceeding. These MLAs did not vote for or against the motion. The BJP legislators staged a walkout after Fadnavis told the House that the Session is "invalid" as the procedure of singing Vande Mataram has not been followed. Meanwhile, the election for the post of Maharashtra Assembly Speaker will take place tomorrow. The Maha Vikas Agadi has nominated Nana Patole for speaker’s post, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated senior MLA Chandrakant Patil for the post. However, Patole likely to win the contest as the numbers are with the ruling alliance.
