Mumbai, May 28: Since the Shiv Sena was launched in 1966, no Thackeray has ever sought the electoral mandate. It seems like things are about to change as the junior Thackeray, Aaditya, is set to contest Maharashtra Assembly Elections in October this year. On Monday, Aaditya's cousin Varun Sardesai's Instagram post went viral, which indicated that the 28-year-old leader may contest assembly polls. “This is the time, this is the opportunity. According to reports, Aaditya can contest from Worli or Sewri assembly segments. Milind Narvekar, Shiv Sena secretary, who is also a personal assistant to party supremo Uddhav Thackeray, gave hints that Aadiya may foray into elections in October. Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, Narvekar said that senior members of the party have suggested junior Thackeray that he must contest assembly polls.

Narvekar added that it will benefit the party and give the youth-leadership to the state. When asked about whether the assembly segment for Aaditya was finalised, Narvekar didn't confirm or deny, but said Worli and Sewri were ideal seats, reported Mumbai Mirror. Currently, Sena's Ajay Chaudhary is the MLA from Sewri, while, Worli is represented by the party's Sunil Shinde.
