2019 Lok Sabha Elections: Rahul Gandhi Forms Congress Core Group Committee, Manifesto Panel and Publicity Team; Check Lists

New Delhi, Aug 25: Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday formed the Congress Core Group Committee, the manifesto panel and the publicity team comprising of the party's top brass leaders. The committee includes senior Congress leaders like P Chidambaram, GN Azad and Mallikarjun Kharge. The 19-member Manifesto Committee also includes Salman Khurshid and Shashi Tharoor and 13 member Publicity Committee for the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. Sonia Gandhi's team has, however, been retained in the new Committee list.

Earlier this week, Ahmed Patel, who is a long-time political aide of Sonia Gandhi, was appointed as Congress Treasurer. Also, Anand Sharma was appointed as the Chairperson of its Foreign Affairs Department. Patel replaces Motilal Vora who was the Treasurer for almost 17 years. He has been the Political Secretary to Sonia Gandhi for 16 years when she was the Congress President.

According to a report by IANS, Former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar was made a permanent invitee to the Congress Working Committee while former Goa Congress chief Luizinho Falerio was appointed General Secretary in-charge of the party affairs in the northeast states.
