New Delhi, June 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has met former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to enquire about his health on Friday. Vajpayee is undergoing treatment at AIIMS for a urinary tract infection. The former prime minister and Bharat Ratna recipient was admitted to AIIMS on June 11 and also underwent dialysis a few days back.

AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria had said while releasing the health bulletin of the former Prime Minister on June 13 had said the Vajpayee was responding well to the treatment and may be discharged in a few days, but, the former PM continues to be in the hospital and according to doctors his health is stable.

Vajpayee served as the Prime Minister of India thrice. He was sworn-in as the 10th Prime Minister of India in 1996 but failed to prove majority and resigned after 13 days. In 1998 again Vajpayee became the prime minister. This time the BJP lead government lasted for 13 months. In the general election held in 1999, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance secured 303 seats paving the way for Vajpayee to become prime minister for the third time.
