Jaipur, July 6: Ahead of PM Narendra Modi's visit in Jaipur on July 7 tomorrow, the Rajasthan government will spend Rs. 7 crore approximately according to a Hindustan Times news report. As part of the expenses, a huge sum of money will also be spent on food and accommodation for the one-day event, according the report suggests.

PM Modi is about to visit Jaipur and will inaugurate several smart city initiatives, during which he will  address around 2.5 lakh people who are the beneficiaries of different schemes of the centre. The money will be utilised on food and accommodation of these 2.5 lakh beneficiaries, as per the report.

Congress leader Ashok Gehlot, the former chief minister of Rajasthan, has hence accused BJP of taking advantage of their power for directing the authorities to gather people who are BJP affiliated and not the actual beneficiaries.  Gehlot was quoted as saying, "The intention of the BJP behind gathering a crowd of BJP workers in the name of beneficiaries in an election year is to win the election by hook or by crook." General Assembly Elections will be held by the end of this year as per the reports.

The report has also quoted an unnamed police officer looking after the event who stated that the police is "Concerned about the (political) ideology of people going to interact with the PM to prevent any embarrassment. As in the last event, a few of people protested and showed a black flag during Modi's visit to Jhunjhunu of Rajasthan."

On the other end, BJP leader and state Rural Development Minister Rajendra Rathore denied the allegations put by the opposition party members. Rathore stated, “People coming to the event are not BJP workers but beneficiaries. The district collectors have been asked to monitor the arrangements."
