Vadodara, June 20: Although the Congress launched an unprecedented attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for advising the nation's unemployed youth to "sell pakodas" for a living, the party faces an embarrassment as one of its "die-hard worker" in Gujarat's Vadodara has heeded to the PM's suggestion.

Narayanbhai Rajput, an active member of NSUI - the student wing of Congress - was unemployed until a few months back despite holding a postgraduate degree in Hindi Literature. His life turned upside down after watching the Prime Minister speaking to a news channel in January this year.

In the 35-minute interview, PM Modi, on being quizzed on the unemployment woes, said "even selling pakoda" is a pragmatic option for the unemployed youths as it will fetch them Rs 200 per day.

Rajput took the PM's pakoda seling idea seriously and opened up a stall in Vadodara. He initially prepared pakoda with only 10kg of raw material. The business, however, proved to be successful with Rajput now owning 35 pakoda stalls in various parts of the city -- each of them selling at least 600 kg of pakodas each day.

Per plate of 100g dal pakoda is being sold at Rs 10, Rajput claims, adding that 300kg is being sold in the morning hours between 7am to 11am and equal amount is sold in the evening.

The chain of pakodas has been named by Rajput as Shriram Dalwada Centre. The name, he claims, was chosen by him after deliberation as he wanted to name his stall after Lord Ram.
