A Telangana couple has expressed displeasure in their photos being used without permission for government ads in the newspaper. Nayakula Nagaraju and Padma have said that their photograph was used for the Rythu Bhima and Kanti Velugu programme advertisements by the state government. That is not the only trouble, the couple is having, in some of the ads, the photo of the couple has been replaced with another unknown man. The anguished Padma questioned how can someone replace her husband's photo and make a stranger stand next to her.

The Telangana government on Independence Day announced two new schemes, Kanti Velugu that provides free eye care and Rythu Bhima which is an insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh for 28 lakh farmers. The government published two full-page advertisements with the photo of a family showing how the household benefited from their schemes. The woman said that they were not informed that their photos will be used in the newspapers for ads.

Padma approached local media with her plight after which the incident came to light. She said that they were not farmers and did odd jobs. The question then arises from where the admakers received their photos. The News Minute quoted Padma as saying, "One day, around 5 to 10 people came with cameras and other equipment. They said that we would get loans for machines and other things. They took our signatures and then took my family's photograph. We are illiterate, so we don't know what they said."

Here are their pictures:

She added saying, "The next thing we know, our posters are stuck everywhere across buses and newspapers. We didn't know whom to ask. We first we saw the photo where my husband was standing next to me, and we saw the other photo later. What will people think if they see some other man like that? It has caused me a lot of distress and it has resulted in big fights at home."

The report stated that the Information and Public Relations office had summoned two ad agencies for the advertisements and has now sought a response from them by Monday. A statement said if the couple's photo was used without consent, then action would be taken against them.
