Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday expressed conceraned over rising fuel prices and said that petrol and diesel should come under the ambit of Goods and Services Tax (GST). “I want petrol and diesel to come under the ambit of GST. Despite being criticised, the central government has maintained that external factors, including a rise in international crude oil prices, are influencing domestic fuel prices. Prices of petrol and diesel have been going up almost daily since August 1. They fell only once on August 13 and have been on record levels for nearly two weeks now. The constant rise in fuel prices is primarily attributed to high crude oil prices and a falling rupee.
