Madhya Pradesh, September 10: The rise in fuel prices has started pinching every commuter. In order to lure customers to buy petrol and diesel, Madhya Pradesh pump owners in the border areas of the state have started to lure customers with freebies to maintain their sales volumes and sales. According to a Times of India report, due to the high VAT percentage, fuel is very costly in the area. Trucks, and other commercial vehicles passing through MP are preferring to refuel at pumps in the neighbouring states. Anuj Khandelwal, a petrol pump owner from Sendhwa on Agra-Mumbai NH, 15km from MP-Maharashtra border is offering washing machine, laptop, bike, AC, Laptop and other gift items to lure customers. As quoted in the report, he said, "For purchase of 100 litres of diesel, a truck driver will get breakfast and tea for free, for 200 litres, the driver and the helper will get free food and tea. For 15,000 litres almirah, sofa set and other attractive gifts are being given out.
As per today's rate, a litre of petrol in Mumbai is at Rs 88.12 (increase by Rs 0.23/litre) and diesel is being sold at Rs 77.32/litre (increase by Rs 0.23/litre). In Delhi, petrol has crossed Rs 80 mark and is at Rs 80.73 (increase by Rs 0.23/litre) and diesel at Rs 72.83/litre (increase by Rs 0.22/litre).
