New Delhi, June 26: Tanvi Seth aka Sadia Anas, the Lucknow woman who alleged communal bias by passport officer Vikas Mishra when she applied for the passport along with her husband, may face consequences if the police verification of her address fails.

According to a report in Hindi daily Amar Ujala, Sadia's police verification has remained inconclusive so far. While she has claimed to have been residing at her in-laws' residence in Qaisarbagh, Lucknow, the call detail records accessed by the police show her residential location to be Noida, the report claims. However, the police are yet to issue an official statement.

In her passport application, Sadia reportedly claimed that she stayed in Lucknow while working for a Noida-based company under work-from-home arrangement. The company's head V P Singh could not be reached out by the police for verification as he is on a leave, reported Swarajya.

Another report in Hindi daily Dainik Jagran claims the due process was violated while issuing the passport to Sadia. While she was issued the passport on June 21, the police verification began on June 22, the report alleged.

The case stoked up a political row in the past week after Sadia alleged that the passport officer Vikas Mishra asked her husband Anas Siddiqui to convert to Hinduism for the issuance of the passport. Mishra, however, refuted the charges, saying he merely asked the couple to clarify why Sadia is seeking the passport in the name of Tanvi Seth, while her nikah nama (marriage certificate) identifies her as Sadia Anas. The officer has been transferred to Gorakhpur and is facing an inquiry.
