Mumbai, July 8: A turtle of olive ridley species has been rescued early Sunday morning at Mumbai's Juhu Chowpatty seashore. According to the information received, the morning walkers and residents near the area saw the turtle and immediately informed the police. Following which the animals' rescue team along with Bandra police reached to the spot and rescued the turtle.
Officials present at the spot said that the turtle was suffering from dehydration and his two limbs were missing, so, it came to the seashore. Later it was unable to go back to the sea and was left stranded. The rescue team has provided the necessary medical help to the turtle and after the health improves it will be sent back to sea.

Earlier, similar olive ridley turtle eggs were discovered at the Versova beach front. After news of olive ridley sea turtle eggs laid on the shore was reported, a team of experts from the Forest department visited the spot to collect the samples.
It was after 20 years, that olive ridley eggs were laid at the Versova beach, which is in a bad condition. Samaritans like Afroz Shah with his team has taken up the beach clean up drive and the initiative received a lot of appreciation from across the nation.
