Assam, July 30: The Assam government has released the second and final draft of National Register of Citizens (NRC) for the state. The final draft of NRC Assam is available online at nrcassam.nic.in. The NRC Draft is being announced amid tight security today. Out of 3.29 crore people, 2.89 crore have been found eligible to be included. Names of 40 lakhs and five thousand and seven citizens haven't been mentioned in the list. According to an ANI report, State NRC Coordinator said, "This is just a draft, and not the final list. The people who are not included can make claims and objections." Reportedly, the objection application will begin from August 30. "Every person whose name was in the first draft but is missing from final draft will be given an individual letter to file claim for her/his non-inclusion during claims and objections," said Sailesh, Registrar General.

The NRC, which was prepared in 1951, is updated for only Assam to weed out illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday said those people, whose name is not included in the NRC list, need not have to worry because they too have a chance with 'claim and objection'. States sharing border with Assam are also on high alert to thwart possible infiltration of illegal immigrants.
