The final draft of NCR will be published online at nrcassam.nic.in. The NCR draft can also be checked at nrcdraft.in/NRCDraft, partdraftnrcassam.in, assam.mygov.in and assam.gov.in. Follow the steps given below to know how to check names in NRC final draft list prepared by the Assam government.

To search your name in NRC final draft, visit nrcassam.nic.in or any of the website mentioned above and click on ‘Complete Draft NRC’. You will have to submit your ARN number, which is printed on the front page of the NRC form you filled. You can also send an SMS from your pre-register mobile number to 97555655 or 9108464438 or 9108464450 in the format ‘ARN space ARN (number)’ to get information on the inclusion of your name in the NRC draft.

NRC is a register containing names of Indian citizens, which was prepared for the only time in 1951 and is being updated for only Assam to weed out illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. The first draft of the NRC was published by Assam government on the intervening night of December 31 and January 1. As many as 1.9 crore people were included as legal citizens of India in the first draft.

Ahead of the publication of NRC final draft, several north-eastern states which share borders with Assam have kept their police forces on alert to thwart possible infiltration of illegal immigrants. The state shares its boundaries with Meghalaya, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram and Manipur. The Centre has also sent over 22,000 central paramilitary troops in order to beef up security in Assam and adjoining states in view of the publication of the final draft of the NRC.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has asked the Assam government not to take any action against those whose names do not figure in the NRC.
