Guwahati, July 30: The final draft of National Register of Citizens (NRC) Assam was published today for the state. The NRC Assam final draft is available online at nrcassam.nic.in. The government has also set up NRC Sewa Kendras across the state where people can check the draft. Except for the official website, you can check your citizenship status at the NRC Assam final draft via SMS, and a toll-free number.

The NRC, which was prepared in 1951, is updated for only Assam to weed out illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday said those people, whose name is not included in the NRC list, need not have to worry because they too have a chance with 'claim and objection'. States sharing border with Assam are also on high alert to thwart possible infiltration of illegal immigrants.
