The change in the POCSO Act took place after there was nationwide outrage over brutal rapes taking place in the country, including the Kathua rape and murder and Unnao rape cases.
According to a report on Hindustan Times, after the sexual assault, the girl was bleeding profusely, which caught her father's attention and, she was rushed to the hospital immediately. The child had to be hospitalised for 24 hours, but is now out of danger and has been discharged.
The victim's aunt, aged 30 years has been arrested, while the accused who committed the crime is on the run. According to the report, the girl lives with her father in Shahbad Dairy; her mother had abandoned the family years ago. The aunt who lives in the same neighbourhood used to take care of the child. On the night of the incident, the woman lured the child with cold drinks, where she mixed alcohol. When she refused to take the alcohol, her aunt forced her.
