The election outcome is equally awaited in Meghalaya and Nagaland, where pollsters were divided on the question whether the two states will opt for change or maintain status quo. In Meghalaya, the Mukul Sangma-led Congress has been ruling for the past 10 years. In Nagaland, the incumbency is stronger as the Naga People's Front of Chief Minister T R Zeliang has been in power since 2003. Exit polls have predicted massive inroads for the BJP in both the states, with a clear saffron swipe predicted by two prominent poll-surveys in Nagaland.
