Reportedly, the Centre asked CBSE to set up flying squads to inspect schools violating the new directive.
New Delhi, June 4: Much to the relief of young students, a Bill is expected to be introduced in the Parliament which will do away with homework for class 1 and class 2 students soon. According to reports, it was assured by Union Minister for Human Resources Development, Prakash Javadekar.
Javadekar said the Centre would bring a no homework bill in the Monsoon Session of Parliament in compliance with the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009. He is further quoted as saying in the report, "I believe there has to be a 'learn with fun'. Children should not be put under any pressure. We will do whatever is required to lessen the burden on children in compliance with the court order."
Madras High Court a few days back asked the Centre to instruct state governments to reduce the weight of school children's bags and do away with homework for classes 1 and 2. The court urged the state government to ensure that the weight of each schoolbag is not more than 10 percent of the weight of a child. Reportedly, the Centre asked CBSE to set up flying squads to inspect schools for violating the new directive.
