Nirav Modi to be in Jail Till March 29 as London Court Rejects His Bail
The Westminister court of London rejected diamantaire Nirav Modi's bail plea and sent him on eight-day custody till March 29.
London, March 20: The Westminister court of London on Monday rejected diamantaire Nirav Modi's bail plea and sent him on eight-day custody till March 29. Modi has offered a 500,000 pounds security for bail, which was rejected by the London Court.
Earlier, the diamantaire was arrested by from the Holborn Metro Station on Tuesday and produced before the Westminster court on Wednesday. With the hearing, resulted in the cancellation of bail plea of Modi, the case has been referred to the Chief Magistrate and the next hearing in his case will be held on March 29. It is to be known that Modi holds a dual passport - one from India and other from Belgium. In the court, he had said that he has a wealth of proof in his defence and feared that there is a chance of deportation if in case he is declared a fugitive. Modi has also refused his consent to extradition.
