Mangaluru, September 23: A Youth Congress Leader allegedly fired rounds of bullets and shot a local youth in Kadappura Kiliriya Nagar near Mukkachery in Karnataka's Ullal on Sunday night. According to cops, this development was in retaliation to a remark against him. The Congress leader, who recognises himself the state general secretary of Karnataka Youth Congress, has been identified as Suhail Kandak. According to a report in The News Minute, few people drove their Innova car in a residential lane of KK Nagar on Sunday night. Suhail got down from the vehicle and started firing in the air. The locals got in an argument with the group and asked them to leave. However, Suhail and his friends refused to leave the area.

Angry over Suhail's behaviour, locals swelled in numbers and threatened the group with sticks and bats. They also damaged their car as well. Furious over this, Suhail pointed a gun towards the crowd and allegedly started firing. In the act, a bullet hit the leg of 18-year-old youth who was present at the scene. Later, Suhail and his group fled from the spot, The News Minute reported.

Police have arrested the group. However, Suhail and car driver Basheer, who was injured in the clashes, have been admitted to the hospital. Armed Reserve police (ARP) has been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incident. Meanwhile, cops have recovered the gun and are determining whether Suhail has a valid license.
