Yogi Adityanath Announces New Airport in Ayodhya to be Named After Lord Ram, Medical Hospital After King Dasharatha
Days after the BJP-led UP government renamed the historic city of Allahabad as Prayagraj, Yogi Adityanath today announced that the Faizabad district would be changed to 'Sri Ayodhya'.
Ayodhya, November 6: In a major announcement, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced in Ayodhya on Tuesday that his government would be building a new airport in the city, to be named after Lord Ram. A medical hospital would also be established, in the memory of King Dasharatha, he said.
"A medical college will be established here in Ayodhya, I want it to be named after King Dasharatha. We will also construct an airport here named after Lord Ram," Yogi was quoted as saying, while addressing the gathering at the Ram Katha Park. The Chief Minister is on a three-day visit to Ayodhya, where he would be celebrating the festival of Diwali. Speculations are rife that Yogi would also be laying the foundation stone of a 151-metre Lord Ram statue at the banks of river Sarayu.

"We are committed to Lord Ram. And when we refer to Lord Ram, Ayodhya comes to our mind...From today this janpad (Faizabad) will be called as Sri Ayodhya," Yogi said.
Days earlier, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad had petitioned the government, demanding the government to change the name of Faizabad. VHP state unit chief Sharad Sharma had said that referring to the district which houses the abode of Lord Ram "by a name given by Mughal invaders" hurts the sentiments of Hindus.
