Lucknow, December 6: The prime accused of the Bulandshahr violence – Bajrang Dal’s Yogesh Raj – is yer to be arrested by the Special Investigation Team constituted by the Uttar Pradesh Police. Raj has been absconding since the violence erupted in Bulandshahr after alleged rumours of cow slaughter in Siyana village of the district got disseminated .
Earlier in the day, unverified reports claimed that he has been apprehended in western Uttar Pradesh. No official confirmation was issued by the UP police. Notably, the violence in Bulandshahr claimed the life of a senior police inspector Subodh Kumar Singh. A local resident – Sumit (20) – also succumbed to bullet injuries a day later.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met the kin of Singh on Thursday and assured them of justice. The CM has given strict orders to the police to take stringent action against the perpetrators for inciting violence in Siyana village. Altogether five people have been arrested, and 28 have been named in the FIR.
