Mumbai, July 30: In the latest development in the Uran murder case, the crime branch arrested a man named Dawood Shaikh for allegedly stabbing 20-year-old Yashashree Shinde in Navi Mumbai. The 24-year-old accused was arrested from the Shahpur hill area in Karnataka's Gulbarga district. The alleged murder came to light on Saturday, July 27, when the woman's body was found dumped in the bushes near Uran railway station.

After the incident, the police formed eight teams and launched a manhunt to nab the accused. A crime branch official said that the accused confessed to killing Yashashri Shinde. Officials learned that Shaikh killed Shinde as she had rejected his advances several years ago. They also said that the accused suspected her of being in a relationship with another youth. Navi Mumbai Shocker: 20-Year-Old Woman Stabbed to Death, Body Found in Bushes Near Uran Railway Station; Boyfriend Suspected.

Accused Jailed for Molestation in 2019

During the investigation of the case, cops found that the accused had known the victim since 2019. After being released from jail, Shaikh shifted to his hometown, Karnataka, where he reportedly worked as a bus driver.

Love Triangle Behind Murder of Yashashri Shinde

It was alleged that Yashashri Shinde was brutally murdered as her body bore multiple injury marks and stab wounds. After her body was discovered, the police suspected her boyfriend as he had also gone missing with her. On Thursday, July 26, Shinde's father had lodged a missing person complaint. Post Shaikh's arrest, crime branch officials said Shinde and Dawood's relationship became sour following a love triangle.

Cops Dismiss Rumours About Private Parts Being Injured

They said that Shinde had come in contact with another boy which irked Shaikh. Dismissing the "love jihad" angle behind her murder, cops suspect a "love triangle" could have cost Shinde her life. Speaking about the incident, they said that Shaikh came to Uran on July 22. They also said that his phone had been switched off since July 25, the day both of them went missing. They are still investigating to ascertain what transpired between Shinde and Shaikh on July 25. Navi Mumbai Shocker: Man Allegedly Assaults Woman Who Rejected His Proposal With an Iron Rod in Nhava Village After Presuming She Made Fun of Him, Arrested.

He also said that the posts about Shinde's private parts being injured, her head smashed, and her breasts cut off were misleading.
