Noida, September 26: Travelling on the Yamuna Expressway, which connects Noida to Agra, will soon become more expensive as the toll rates are set to increase by an average of 4% from October 1. This decision, taken after two and a half years, was approved during the 82nd board meeting of the Yamuna Authority on Thursday.

The board discussed and approved 36 proposals, including the toll hike. The authority claims that the hike is based on the 2022-23 proposal submitted by Jaypee Infratech, which is being implemented for 2024-25 to ensure minimal impact on commuters. Additionally, the board approved the construction of interchanges at four locations along the Yamuna Expressway for the upcoming Film City, and a convention centre near the Jewar Airport. No Toll Tax for Locals? 2-Year-Old Video of Nitin Gadkari Promising No Toll Plaza Within 60 Km on Highways and Aadhaar-Linked Passes for Locals in 3 Months Goes Viral Again.

Another key decision made during the meeting was the introduction of stricter rules for builders. The Uttar Pradesh government has also approved the rapid rail project from Ghaziabad to Jewar Airport, which will merge with the Aqua Line at Knowledge Park-5. The Yamuna Authority plans to develop an area in front of Galgotias University for leisure activities. In addition, a 12-hectare parking facility will be built in Vrindavan to transport visitors to the Banke Bihari Temple via electric carts. Approval has also been granted for an OTS scheme for 8,000 defaulters.
