New Delhi, December 21: The government has listed four bills for discussion and passing in Lok Sabha on Friday. One of the bills is to replace the instant divorce among the Muslims in India and the second one is to appoint a board of governors for the now-defunct medical council of India. However, the bill to ban Triple Talaq is not expected to see smooth sailing in Lok Sabha as it is expected to see a stiff opposition from Indian National Congress (INC).
A member of Revolutionary Socialist Party in Kerala, NK Premchandran and two Congress MPs Shashi Tharoor and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury had moved a statutory resolution against the Triple Talaq Bill on December 20. Surrogacy Bill Passed in Lok Sabha During Winter Session of Parliament; Commercial Surrogacy to be Banned.

- The Indian Medical Council (Amendment) Bill, 2018
- The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, 2018

- The New Delhi International Arbitration Centre Bill, 2018
AITC member Saugata Roy, Congress member Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary, and NK Premchandran member of Revolutionary Socialist Party in Kerala, will move a statutory motion against the Indian Medical Council (Amendment) Ordinance, 2018. Consumer Protection Bill Passed in Lok Sabha; Proposed Law Mandates Harsh Punishment Up to Life Imprisonment For Selling Adulterated Food Items.
Lok Sabha will also take questions raised by members of ministries falling in Group 'E' i.e., the ministry of finance, health and family welfare, corporate affairs, environment, forest and climate, women and child development, and ministry of Ayush.
Earlier, Shashi Tharoor had proposed that Triple Talaq bill claiming that it was targeted at a particular religion and hence unconstitutional. "This is an attempt at creating class-specific legislation on the grounds of religion. Instead of focussing on the larger issue of mistreatment and desertion of wives and dependents, which affects all communities, this bill is couched in terms of a specific religion," Tharoor had said.
