New Delhi, March 6: The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Wednesday gave out a list of fake Twitter accounts running in the name of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman. At least six fake Twitter accounts are operating in the name of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman. The IAF also made it clear that the Indian Air Force's pilot doesn't have an account on Facebook or Instagram.

"Wg Cdr Abhinandan Varthaman does not have a social media account on any portal (Facebook /Instagram /Twitter)," the IAF tweeted. According to the list, the fake Twitter accounts named after Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman are - IAFAbhinandanV, abhinandanhere, @_Pilotiaf, @WC_Abhinandan, #AbhiNandan_Wcdr and @W_abhinandan. Earlier, a fake account @Abhinandan_wc was created in the name of Varthaman.

Varthaman, who was captured by Pakistan after his MiG-21 crashed in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir following an aerial engagement with Pakistan Air Force (PAF) jets, returned to India on March 1. Varthaman had shot down an F-16 fighter of Pakistan Air Force during the aerial engagement. Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman Remains in High Spirit Despite Mental Harassment in Pakistan.

Indian Air Force's tweet on fake Twitter accounts named after Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman:

After his return to India, Varthaman was first taken to the Air Force Central Medical Establishment (AFCME), a compact and specialised medical evaluation centre for aircrew of all the three services. Later he was brought to the Army’s Research and Referral hospital. He is undergoing a series of medical tests at the hospital as part of a 'cooling down' process.

Varthaman's aircraft was hit when he along with other IAF pilot thwarted Pakistan's attempt to target military installations on the Indian side, said the government. This happened a day after India launched an anti-terror strike against a Jaish-e-Mohammed terror training camp in Balakot in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. India’s airstrike came in the aftermath of the February 14 terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district in which around 40 CRPF jawans were killed.
