Mumbai, February 1: Dreaded gangster Ravi Pujari was arrested in West African nation of Senegal on Thursday night, after the Bengaluru City Police issued a Red Corner Notice. As the arrest of the underworld don has been confirmed, the Indian foreign ministry is most likely to pith for his extradition with the Senegalese counterparts.

Pujari in his past had worked with several dons of the Mumbai-based underworld and wanted in dozens of extortion and supari murders cases, registered in various parts of the country. After working with the numerous splinter groups, including Chhota Rajan, he started his group. Ravi Pujari, Dreaded Underworld Don, Arrested by Senegal Police.

Let’s look at his journey and the cases he was involved in:

    1. Pujari shot to limelight after he killed his rival Bala Zalte in Mumbai in the 1990s. He then went to join Chhota Rajan.
    2. Pujari then moved to Dubai, from where he started his extortion racket started and parted ways from Rajan. To attain fame, he ordered three of his men shoot Om Prakash Kukreja of Kukreja builders in his Chembur office.
    3. In 1998, a Navi Mumbai builder, Suresh Wadhwa, escaped an assassination attempt by Pujari – ducking under his office desk.
    4. After moving to several places, he made his base to Burkina Faso in Western Africa and then finally settled in Senegal.
    5. In 2018, Pujari threatened JNU student Umar Khalid, student activist Shehla Rashid and Dalit leader and Gujarat legislator Jignesh Mewani.
    6. Between 2009 and 2013, Ravi Pujari allegedly used to make extortion demands to Bollywood personalities.
    7. Last month, the Bengaluru City Police issued a Red Corner Notice to arrest the criminal and traced him in Senegal.
    8. On Thursday, he was arrested in Senegal, but has to be extradited to India, following the completion of various procedures of the treaty with the Senegalese counterpart. He is wanted in hosts of cases including extortion, murder and kidnapping.

According to the sources, Pujari was placed under extradition detention at the Rebeuss Detention Centre at Dakar of Senegal in West Africa. When arrested, the security agencies found out that he was in possession of a fake passport which was in the name of Andrew Fernandes. Following the completion of the extradition process, he would be brought to India on a special flight.
