Mumbai, May 28: A 17-year-old boy, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, rammed his speeding Porsche car into two bike-borne techies in Pune, killing them on the spot on May 13. The accused teenager was granted bail within 15 hours after the fatal crash by Dr LN Danwade (LN Dhanwade), one of the non-judicial members of the Juvenile Justice Board. The bail order and the conditions set by Dr LN Danwade came under scrutiny as many, including Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, termed them "lenient".

In the bail order, Danwade asked the accused teen to visit the Regional Transport Office (RTO) and study traffic rules, and submit a presentation to the Juvenile Justice Board within 15 days. Another condition was that the accused will write an essay of 300 words on the topic of road accidents and their solutions. This sparked an outrage on social media with netizens questioning the Juvenile Justice Board for taking a lenient view of the incident which claimed two lives. 'Write Essay on Accident': Court-Set Bail Conditions for Minor Boy Who Killed Two With His Porsche Car in Pune Baffle Netizens.

Who Is LN Danwade?

According to reports, LN Danwade is a non-judicial member of the Juvenile Justice Board, who granted bail to the 17-year-old boy as other members of the panel were not available due to a holiday. Before joining the Juvenile Justice Board, Danwade was working with Balagram 'SOS' Children's Village in Raigad as superintendent. During his tenure, a minor girl allegedly died by suicide. Danwade was suspended from the organisation. He then moved to Pune and joined the Pune Bal Kalyan Samiti. His recommendation was reportedly made by a senior official of the Women and Child Development Commissionerate. Controversy Over LN Danwade's Ruling in Pune Porsche Crash:

Danwade's ruling in the Pune Porsche crash also come under scanner as he allegedly did not follow the procedure. According to a report by Punekar News, two members of the Juvenile Justice Board should have been present when the teen accused was produced. However, Danwade heard the matter alone. He neither consulted the board's supervisory officer, nor did he reach out to chief magistrate Manasi Pardeshi and second-appointed member KT Thorat for their inputs.

Following the outrage, the Juvenile Justice Board held its longest session ever on May 22, during which the teen accused's case was heard again. After hearing the arguments from both sides, the board cancelled his bail and sent him to an observation home till June 5.
