Mumbai, April 4: The alarm bells have started ringing for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2019 and all the political parties have geared up their campaigns to garner maximum support from the prospective voters. As the First Phase of LS elections is on April 11, the campaigning for the 91 constituencies in 20 states has already begun. Here’s all the FAQ’s answers related with poll campaigning and its duration for the first phase.
According to the Elections Commission’s press briefing on March 10, for the first phase the Lok Sabha aspirants could fill their nomination papers from March 18 to March 25. The scrutiny was done on March 26, and the last date of withdrawal of nomination of candidature was set on March 28. As per the Election Commission's Model Code of Conduct rules, the political parties and their candidates can campaign in their respective constituencies till 48 hours prior to beginning of polls. So for the first phase of elections on April 11, political parties and their candidates can campaign and seek votes till April 9, after which it needs to be stopped. If found guilty of violating the rules, the EC may cancel the nomination of the candidate or take appropriate action as required.

The Lok Sabha Elections for 543 seats will take place in seven phases from April 11 to May 19, and the counting of votes would take place on May 23.
