Ranchi, July 9: The police in Jharkhand's capital Ranchi has issued a warning to admins of the chat groups of the social messaging app WhatsApp that they should ensure that no posts should be shared which might disturb the communal harmony. Admins are the one who controls and is a part of the WhatsApp group. Admins have a right to remove or add any person. WhatsApp Group Admin Arrested in Jharkhand for Posting Provocative Content.

"All the admins and members of WhatsApp groups/other social media platforms are requested to not share posts that might disturb communal harmony. Action will be taken against the admins/ the person concerned if such posts come to light," Ranchi police said in a statement, reported news agency ANIKerala Couple Harassed by Fake WhatsApp Message, Decide to Trace Origin of Rumours Shared Online.

According to police, the posts should not have any content which can hurt religious sentiments or social harmony. If any person is found posting such content- text, pictures or audio and video clips- action could be taken against them.

In March, a WhatsApp group admin was arrested in Jharkhand's Chatra district for posting provocative comments and video. "Ranjit Kumar Ram was arrested and sent to judicial custody for 14 days after the provocative video and message was posted in the group," Sadar police station in-charge said.
