Bengaluru, August 11: A software engineer in Bengaluru, Shrutika Brijesh, recently solved a four-month-old theft case involving her missing gold necklace after spotting it in the WhatsApp display picture (DP) of her former domestic help, Renuka. The necklace had mysteriously disappeared from Shrutika's flat in Marathahalli in March, along with other gold items totaling 65 grams. Despite the police questioning Renuka and three other domestic workers, the case had remained unsolved.

Shrutika and her husband, Brijesh Dhami, had last seen the jewelry during Diwali 2023. When the gold went missing, Brijesh filed a police complaint, suspecting one of the four domestic workers. Although all were questioned, no leads were found. Shortly after, Renuka quit her job, raising further suspicion as she had previously been linked to thefts in other flats within the same apartment complex, Purva Fountain Square. Pune: Three Men Break Open Shutter of Medical Store in Tathawade, Flee With Cash; CCTV Footage of Theft Surfaces.

Shrutika, determined to find her missing jewelry, began monitoring Renuka's WhatsApp DP regularly, confident that it might eventually provide a clue. Her persistence paid off when, in late July, she noticed Renuka wearing the missing necklace in a selfie with her husband. The couple had traveled to their village near Hosapete, where Renuka, believing the case had gone cold, wore the necklace openly during a local festival and updated her DP with the photo. ATM Theft in Dumka: 5 Robbers Steal Over INR 20 Lakh From Indian Bank, Staff Assaulted and Locked Inside in Jharkhand (Watch Video).
