Mumbai, November 13: In a major boost to India's defence capabilities, Agra's Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment (ADRDE), a leading DRDO laboratory, formally handed over the Authority Holding Sealed Particulars (AHSP) for the P-7 Parachute System to the Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA). The ceremony was held at DRDO Bhawan and officiated by Dr Samir V Kamat, Secretary of the Department of Defence R&D and Chairman of DRDO.

The P-7 Parachute System, developed by ADRDE, is designed for the rapid and safe delivery of heavy payloads, catering to the operational needs of the Indian Armed Forces. What Is P-7 Parachute System?

Manufactured by Gliders India Limited (Ordnance Parachute Factory), Kanpur, the P-7 parachute system consists of a platform and parachute system. The P-7 parachute system is equipped with a cluster of a cluster of 5 Main canopies, 5 Brake chutes, 2 Auxiliary chutes and 1 Extractor parachute.  Meanwhile, its platform is made up of Aluminium or Steel alloys.

How Much Load P-7 Parachute System Can Carry?

The Ministry of Defence said in a press release that the P-7 Parachute System can airdrop loads up to 9.5 tons from IL-76 aircraft at altitudes up to four kilometres. After a successful General Staff Evaluation, the P-7 system was officially inducted into the Indian Armed Forces, and the Army placed an order for 146 units.
